O num-num
A minha filha nunca teve um num-num. Tem um quarto cheio de brinquedos, alguns até estão guardados em caixas debaixo da cama e outros dispersos pelas casas dos avós. Com muitos desses brinquedos ela nem sequer brinca ou brincou uma ou duas vezes e depois simplesmente nunca mais se lembrou deles. São demasiado sofisticados, são brinquedos perfeitos, que já fazem tudo e não deixam muita margem para a imaginação.
Tenho a certeza que ela ficaria feliz se tivesse um num-num. Talvez lhe desse mais valor. Talvez brincasse até ele se estragar e ela ficar triste e querer outro. Talvez fizesse questão de aprender a fazer um, mesmo que nas primeiras tentativas não resultasse. Talvez gostasse até de ir procurar a cana ideal para fazer esse pequeno brinquedo mágico. O num-num não é só um brinquedo, é também um instrumento musical.
Basta ir à procura de uma cana de tamanho médio, verde, cortá-la e trazê-la para casa. Depois é preciso escolher a parte melhor para o num-num e cortá-la, deixando de um lado um dos nós, para ficar tapado desse lado. A seguir vem a parte mais importante, a que requer mais ciência e da qual vai depender a eficácia do instrumento. Com a ajuda de uma faca, vai-se cortanto numa das faces da cana lascas fininhas, tão fininhas que não permitam que se rompa a membrana que fica no interior. É uma membrana branca, muito fina e sensível. É ela que vai fazer a música. E está pronto o num-num.
Para tocar, é muito simples, não é preciso saber as notas musicais. Basta colocar a boca sobre essa membrana fina e ir fazendo o som da música que se quer tocar. Funciona muito bem, garanto eu, que fiz dezenas ou talvez centenas de num-nums durante toda a minha infância e deliciei-me com esse brinquedo-instrumento, como talvez não me tenho deliciado com nenhum outro.
